Rod Dowling's Biography
The man, the myth, the legend.
On April 26, 1988, Rod Dowling, was welcomed into the world in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Shortly after his birth, Rod's mother, Mary, relocated he and his family to Columbia, South Carolina, where he'd spend the majority of his childhood.
Rods musical journey began at the tender age of four when he wrote his first song about his brand-new drum set. The song boasts a dichotomy of his wild childlike creativity and yet his fully mature, and developed, ambition. The song would go on to be mentioned and recanted by his 5 siblings at future family gatherings.
While growing up In church, Rod developed a keen ability and inclination toward music. Also at age 4, Rod would sing the hit sitcom jingle "in the heat of the night" in church. He'd go on to sing unabashed, and unabridged, for no less than 15 minutes before being told politely to take seat.
As Rod grew older, he became increasingly more invested in music, honing his skills as a vocalist by singing even more in church and learning to play the trumpet in honor band.
While in highschool, Rod took honors-level English and literature courses where he'd learn to write persuasively. He'd eventually develop an undeniably articulate form of expression through poetic pieces and other art forms (abstract art and dance).
At age 18, Rod joined his first gigging group (of which, he was the lead singer.)
In August 2006, Rod attended Francis Marion University where he'd major in Business Finance. While in College, Rod developed an enormous vocabulary and applied himself more rigorously to music composition and songwriting. This eventually led him to take up a considerable number of courses in piano and classical voice to claim an unofficial minor in music.
College would prove to be monumental for Rod as he'd go on to discover his love for guitar. While at a local Baptist Collegiate Ministry chapter, Rod would hear a very eloquently played version of "Inside out" by Hillsong United. Since then, his love grew even moreso for the instrument. Rod inclined a guitar playing style influenced by a collective of renowned guitarists such as B.B. King, John Mayer, Marty Schwartz, and Kerry 2 Smooth Marshall. Later, by Rod's Junior year, his music began to reflect a fusion of various genres, reminiscent of legendary artists ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Frank Sinatra.
At age 22, Rod released his very first Music project titled , “A Wise Man’s Dissertation” under the pseudonym “ Black Suede.” In May 2010, he'd graduate College, but not before receiving a unofficially dedicated spot at his nostalgic BCM chapter; the spot would read "The Dowling Doorway."
Full of optimism and ready to pursue a life of purpose and passion, Rod would develop key life skills and abilities over the course of the next decade. Life lessons and life's blessings ensued indefinitely for Rod as he'd live out the vicissitudes of his calling in music. One of which was a career in the Tax Preparation industry which would span more than a decade.
In 2023, Rod would found Erawa Music Group, LLC and name it after one his many nomenclature reinventions. These were numerous eras/epochs of hiatus and evolution. Ultimately, Erawa Music Group, LLC would be the culmination of persistence, will, diligence, patience and destiny.
Today, with a wealth of life experience, business acumen, and sheer musicality, Rod would carefully plan and strategize his way into some of the most illustrious opportunities. His music has since been featured on iHeart radio, in independent films, television projects, and has received widespread acclaim from fans and artists worldwide.
